A sustainable S\u00e4len - a matter of the heart<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

S\u00e4lenfj\u00e4llen has a natural incentive to care for the nature and environment in which we live and work. The sustainability label “Sustainable Destination<\/em><\/strong>” is our systematic work with sustainable development. The Sustainable Destination label in S\u00e4lenfj\u00e4llen was (together with Idre) the first destinations in Sweden to receive the label outside Norway in 2018. Since then we have now been re-labeled twice. The B\u00e6rekraftig Reisem\u00e5l scheme is for destinations that want to work with long-term sustainable development. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

– The Sustainable label<\/em> Destination is not a price for work done. But it drives us in the right direction and our sustainability work must always be in motion<\/em>, says Louise Larsson<\/strong>, CEO Destination S\u00e4lenfj\u00e4llen.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

S\u00e4lenfj\u00e4llen was re-labeled in 2022 and 2025 and is continuously working on measures within climate and environment, culture, social responsibility and economic sustainability. This is an extensive process, which involves responding to 84 indicators in order to be awarded the label for three more years. The sustainability label for destinations under the B\u00e6rekraftig Reisem\u00e5l label is currently available throughout Norway at around 60 destinations, but only in two places in Sweden, of which S\u00e4lenfj\u00e4llen is one. <\/p>

The work of responding to the indicators includes three different surveys of our target groups around the destination: residents, cottage owners\/visitors and businesses. Through the resident survey, we are also pleased to see that the arrangements made for guests are also of great benefit to residents. We are extremely grateful to everyone who is contributing by answering these surveys.<\/p>

Without visitors and cabin owners, much of what S\u00e4lenfj\u00e4llen has to offer would be lost, as there are not enough inhabitants to cope with such an extensive and wide range of services and good infrastructure as we have today. The tourism industry in S\u00e4lenfj\u00e4llen is therefore an important factor in making S\u00e4lenfj\u00e4llen an attractive place to move to and live in. Input from the three surveys will be incorporated into an action plan that Destination S\u00e4lenfj\u00e4llen and Malung-S\u00e4len Municipality, together with other partners, will review and take action to improve for the target groups.<\/p>

The Sustainable Destination Label is approved by the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) based on the 2030 Agenda and has been translated into a practice for the tourism industry.<\/p>

Destination S\u00e4lenfj\u00e4llen is the joint company for the development of the hospitality industry in S\u00e4lenfj\u00e4llen. The company works strategically with overall issues to create good conditions for the hospitality industry and thereby contribute to an increased number of visitors all year round in S\u00e4lenfj\u00e4llen. Destination S\u00e4lenfj\u00e4llen represents 150 member companies<\/a>. <\/p>
